After the Vatican State, the four smallest countries in Europe
are Monaco, San Marino, Liechtenstein, and Andorra. Monaco is a
dense urban area on the Mediterranean coast of France, not far
from Nice. San Marino is in Italy's Apennine Mountains, where
Hannibal lost an eye. Liechtenstein, nestled between Switzerland
and Austria, is not just landlocked but borders exclusively
on landlocked countries. Andorra is a Catalan-speaking country
straddling the Pyrenees between Spain and France.
