The sea slug Notodoris minor is normally a vivid yellow in color, but has here taken on some blue coloring from the surrounding minerals. The blend of blue and yellow has given it the fluorescent green shade of a highlighting pen. Notodoris minor spends its life crawling along the sea floor, usually in the vicinity of coral, looking for sea sponges to eat. Sea sponges are very primitive animals that have no muscles or nerves, so they can’t run from sea slugs and in a sense they don’t mind being eaten. A sea slug eating a sea sponge is one of the most leisurely scenes of predation in the sea.
